Satan Tempts Jesus Matthew 4
4 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. 3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
Good Morning. If anyone understood the reality of temptation Jesus surely did, here in verse one of our text we see satan tempting Jesus with food after Jesus had fasted forty days. I see here also that the Holy Spirit led Jesus to this wilderness place, Jesus is our supreme example on how to resist temptation. Hebrews 4:5 tells us the “Jesus was tempted in all ways like us and yet without sin”! So Jesus as our High Priest is able to help us when we fall into temptation. Also we see here in verse 3 that satan always try to cast doubt on who we are and what we believe, and will bend the truth of scripture notice he tells Jesus IF you are the Son of God command these stones to become bread. There is no doubt that Jesus IS the Son of God! Does satan ever whisper to us that IF you are truly saved….Always and forever the way to resist temptation is found in the word of God, the Bible! Knowing and believing the scriptures guides us away from the position of being tempted and reveals to us when we are being led astray into temptation! If Jesus is telling us here that: “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”, we would do well to do that! God bless, Terry Oct 19, 2019
Be Generous and Do Good Galatians 6
7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Good Morning. God always gets the last word! People can be deceived into thinking that there is no God and totally ignore the warnings in the word of God. In 2Cor 4 we see that there is a “god of this world” which is satan who blinds the minds of them that do not believe, we have a commission as Christians to share the gospel with lost people to give them the hope of salvation and the choice to receive Jesus into their lives. Back to our verses , God will not be mocked, whatever a man sows that he will also reap. Some will live an entire life to serve themselves and they will reap and they in the end will reap the rewards of a fleshly, self-centered life and that is corruption (decaying,decomposition)! On the other hand a person who lives being guided by and sows to the Holy Spirit will of the Holy Spirit reap everlasting life! So if you are in the second group God wants you and I to do not get weary in doing good because the day of reaping the benefits of everlasting life is coming so continue to abound in the work of the Lord Jesus! JOHN 14 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Good Morning. Here in these verses we see the mystery of the trinity , Jesus certainly claims to be God here in verse 9, “If you have seen Me you have seen the Father,” Jesus replies. In the book of Titus Jesus is called the Savior and God the Father is called the Savior.(Titus 1:3,4). In the Book of Philippians 2 Jesus thought it not robbery to be equal with God…! I and My Father are ONE. (John 10:30) In the Book of Isaiah 9:6 we see a child is to be born and His name is called, wonderful, counselor , mighty God , Prince of Peace and Everlasting Father…..! So we see that trying to understand that relationship between the Jesus and the Father and how they are the same is impossible so we by faith believe it to be true and one day when we see Jesus face to face we will know (1John 3:2)!As the old hymn says: “we will understand it better by and by…”! One thing for sure is that unless we come to the Son and be born again we will never know the father! God bless, Terry Oct 17, 2019
All Have Sinned Romans 3
9 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.
10 As it is written:
“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one.”
Good Morning. Home again after a wonderful two week trip. All went well , praise the LORD!
These verses illustrate the vast difference between a Holy God and sinful man. When we look at the above verses, we can see that no one could be saved and come into God’s presence! From a Holy God’s perspective no flesh is good enough to be with God, but God made provision for man to become righteous in God’s eyes and that provision is Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God! By believing in Jesus and repenting of the sins Jesus can wash away the innate sin that is in all mankind! Man’s part is to confess that sin and admit to God we are sinners and ask for forgiveness and the blood of Jesus can make one white as snow and God the Father looks upon him as sinless! Tell someone today! God bless, Terry Oct 15, 2019
Guidance for the Young Proverbs 3
3 My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
2 For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.
3 Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
4 And so find favor and high esteem
In the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
Good Morning. There is much good instruction and promise in these first six verses of the Book of Proverbs chapter 3! Keeping God’s word close to our heart and obeying it brings for a peaceful long life. Verses 3&4 also bring tremendous promise if we live our lives being merciful and truthful, the great promise is that we will find favor with God and man! In other words by being honest and compassionate we will be looked at and find favor in God’s eyes and also people will enjoy being around us! Lastly in our verses for today is one of my all time favorite verses and probably yours too and that is TRUSTING IN THE LORD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS and do not lean on our own understanding, after all there is a verse of scripture that tells us the “There is a way that seems right to a man and the end is the way of death”(Proverbs 14:12), so we cannot always trust our own thoughts! So finally I see the greatest promise of these six verses is found in verse 6 and that is: “…and HE shall direct your steps”! God Bless, Terry Oct 14, 2019
