Jesus’ 2nd temptation.

Matthew 4

Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:

‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’

and,‘In their hands they shall bear you up,

Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”

Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not [a]

tempt the Lord your God.’
Good Morning. There are a couple of things that should be realized from these verses, one is that the devil knows scripture. The second is he quotes a verse from the Psalms, however quoting scripture does not mean that it is interpreted properly, here satan missinterprets scripture purposely trying to test God by seeing if  Jesus will throw Himself off the temple! God’s abilities do not have to be tested to see if they are valid.”13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone.” (James 1) False religions and cults have been using this tactic for centuries and still they are taking God’s word out of context even today! All the more reason for you and I to obey the word of God by: “15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.(2Timothy 2:15) If we will do that we won’t have to worry about believing distorted false doctrine generated by the enemy of Jesus.                     God bless, Terry Oct 20, 2019

Jesus is tempted by satan.

Satan Tempts Jesus  Matthew 4

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’

Good Morning. If anyone understood the reality of temptation Jesus surely did, here in verse one of our text we see satan tempting Jesus with food after Jesus had fasted forty days. I see here also that the Holy Spirit led Jesus to this wilderness place, Jesus is our supreme example on how to resist temptation. Hebrews 4:5 tells us the “Jesus was tempted in all ways like us and yet without sin”! So Jesus as our High Priest is able to help us when we fall into temptation. Also we see here in verse 3 that satan always try to cast doubt on who we are and what we believe, and will bend the truth of scripture notice he tells Jesus IF you are the Son of God command these stones to become bread. There is no doubt that Jesus IS the Son of God! Does satan ever whisper to us that IF you are truly saved….Always and forever the way to resist temptation is found in the word of God, the Bible! Knowing and believing the scriptures guides us away from the position of being tempted and reveals to us when we are being led astray into temptation! If Jesus is telling us here that: “Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God”, we would do well to do that!                           God bless, Terry  Oct 19, 2019

Be Generous and Do Good  Galatians 6

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Good Morning. God always gets the last word! People can be deceived into thinking that there is no God and totally ignore the warnings in the word of God. In 2Cor 4 we see that there is a “god of this world” which is satan who blinds the minds of them that do not believe, we have a commission as Christians to share the gospel with lost people to give them the hope of salvation and the choice to receive Jesus into their lives. Back to our verses , God will not be mocked, whatever a man sows that he will also reap. Some will live an entire life to serve themselves and they will reap and they in the end will reap the rewards of a fleshly, self-centered life and that is corruption (decaying,decomposition)! On the other hand a person who lives being guided by and sows to the Holy Spirit will of the Holy Spirit reap everlasting life! So if you are in the second group God wants you and I to do not get weary in doing good because the day of reaping the benefits of everlasting life is coming so continue to abound in the work of the Lord Jesus! Jesus and God the Father are one!

Inline image
  6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
Good Morning. Here in these verses we see the mystery of the trinity , Jesus certainly claims to be God here in verse 9, “If you have seen Me you have seen the Father,” Jesus replies. In the book of Titus Jesus is called the Savior and God the Father is called the Savior.(Titus 1:3,4). In the Book of Philippians 2 Jesus thought it not robbery to be equal with God…! I and My Father are ONE. (John 10:30)  In the Book of Isaiah 9:6 we see a child is to be born and His name is called, wonderful, counselor , mighty God , Prince of Peace and Everlasting Father…..! So we see that trying to understand that relationship between the Jesus and the Father and how they are the same is impossible so we by faith believe it to be true and one day when we see Jesus face to face we will know (1John 3:2)!As the old hymn says: “we will understand it better by and by…”! One thing for sure is that unless we come to the Son and be born again we will never know the father! God bless, Terry Oct 17, 2019

What will happen tomorrow?

Do Not Boast About Tomorrow  James 4

Inline image

13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow [h]we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
Good Morning.Sometime we all seem to take for granted that we will have a tomorrow to do whatever we want to do, but God’s word is telling us differently here in our verses for today. We do know what may come into our lives tomorrow, so we need to understand that God being sovereign holds our tomorrows. Our thoughts should be “if God wills” we shall do this or do that tomorrow! The truth is God is in control and we need to recognize that fact ! Our lives are short from a Godly perspective , God is telling us just how short as verse 14 states: “It is like a vapor that appears for a little while and vanishes away”! A puff of steam from an old freight train engine does not stay in the air very long and that is how quickly God’s word is telling us our life is! So by faith we trust Jesus and do good and seek to obey Him with our short life!               God Bless, Terry Oct 16, 2019

God is HOLY..

All Have Sinned  Romans 3

What then? Are we better than they? Not at all. For we have previously charged both Jews and Greeks that they are all under sin.

10 As it is written:

“There is none righteous, no, not one;
11 There is none who understands;
There is none who seeks after God.
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;

There is none who does good, no, not one.”
Good Morning. Home again after a wonderful two week trip. All went well , praise the LORD!
 These verses illustrate the vast difference between a Holy God and sinful man. When we look at the above verses, we can see that no one could be saved and come into God’s presence! From a Holy God’s perspective no flesh is good enough to be with God, but God made provision for man to become righteous in God’s eyes and that provision is Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God! By believing in Jesus and repenting of the sins  Jesus can wash away the innate sin that is in all mankind! Man’s part is to confess that sin and admit to God we are sinners and ask for forgiveness and the blood of Jesus can make one white as snow and God the Father looks upon him as sinless! Tell someone today!        God bless, Terry Oct 15, 2019

Guidance for the Young Proverbs 3

My son, do not forget my law,
But let your heart keep my commands;
For length of days and long life
And peace they will add to you.

Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart,
And so find favor and [a]high esteem
In the sight of God and man.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall [b]
direct your paths.

Good Morning. There is much good instruction and promise in these first six verses of the Book of Proverbs chapter 3! Keeping God’s word close to our heart and obeying it brings for a peaceful long life. Verses 3&4 also bring tremendous promise if we live our lives being merciful and truthful, the great promise is that we will find favor with God and man! In other words by being honest and compassionate we will be looked at and find favor in God’s eyes and also people will enjoy being around us! Lastly in our verses for today is one of my all time favorite verses and probably yours too and that is TRUSTING IN THE LORD WITH ALL OUR HEARTS and do not lean on our own understanding, after all there is a verse of scripture that tells us the “There is a way that seems right to a man and the end is the way of death”(Proverbs 14:12), so we cannot always trust our own thoughts! So finally I see the greatest promise of these six verses is found in verse 6 and that is: “…and HE shall direct your steps”!  God Bless, Terry Oct 14, 2019
