The World’s Hatred John 15
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.
Good Morning. “Birds of a feather flock together”, is a saying I heard most of my life and here in the gospel of John we are seeing Jesus proclaiming a similar situation. The world view and the Christian(as you know) view are miles and miles apart! Jesus is warning us not to be alarmed when we realize this but know that the world hated Me before it hated Christians. Some of that hatred may appear in a subtle way and some may be more overt as we find in places like the Sudan where they are executing Christian for their faith. In America, we have not seen the persecution that is possible to Christians and we are blessed to live in this country even though we see things changing in a direction we do not like! Jesus through His words informs people of sin and the word sin is not taken well in the world today. People want to hear how good they are not that they need a Savior to forgive their sins. We have to remember that the power behinf us through Jesus overcomes the trials that mayu be ahead of us. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and died for us!
