Faith Triumphs in Trouble Romans 5
5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, [a]we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces [b]perseverance; 4 and perseverance, [c]character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Good Morning. What does it mean to be justified? Here in our text we are told there is a way to be justified in the sight of Almighty God and have peace with him. The best definition for justification is to be made or declared righteous by God for one’s faith in the Lord Jesus. The reason for this declaration of righteousness is because as one places their faith in the Lord Jesus the shed blood of Jesus washes away their sins and Almighty God sees them no more, bringing peace with God! Now the person who places their faith in the Lord Jesus are given access into the grace of God. This grace gives the Christian the ability to live in this sinful world with the real hope of the promises of God and shine for Jesus regardless of the environment around them. Our ability as a Christian to stand by God’s grace in the face of opposition builds godly character and allows us to persevere as the love of God is poured into us by the power of the Holy Spirit, so we have hope in any situation! Not Carnality but Christ Colossians 3
3 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
Good Morning. There are many battles that take place in our minds and it seems that the greatest thing we can do is to keep our minds from negative thinking and fill them with God’s word and the promises of Jesus! What are we putting in our minds? The bible tells us in Proverbs 23; 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…….. So what are we putting into our hearts (minds)? We are to die to the self things that bring us down! The words of scripture bring us hope in the most dire situations! Our text says to seek those things from above and put our minds on things above, the things of love, joy, peace, etc. that the Holy Spirit teaches. Also, we see here in verse 4 that Jesus is our life now and one Day you and I as Christians will be with Him in glory for all eternity! God bless.Love in Christ, Terry May 8. 2021
23 But Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. 24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much [d]grain. 25 He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. 26 If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Father will honor.
Good Morning. Jesus is speaking to Philip and Andrew and is talking to them about his death. Jesus makes an interesting comparison here concerning His death. He tells them except a seed from a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies it abides alone, but if it dies it produces much grain. In the same way Jesus was to give His life on the cross so many would live (eternally)! Are you and I ready to give up the self-life and die to self to live for Jesus. Perhaps if we deny ourselves and take up our cross daily and follow Jesus many will come to know the Lord by our service to Jesus and sharing the gospel! This life brings honor and glory to God. The Shepherd Knows His Sheep John 10
22 Now it was the Feast of Dedication in Jerusalem, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in [d]doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.”25 Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. 26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, [e]as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. 30 I and My Father are one.”
Good Morning. One thing is very plain to see in these verses and that is one needs to be one of Jesus’ sheep to hear Jesus’ voice! To be one of His sheep one must believe Jesus and then one can hear His voice, when that belief becomes real (at the new birth)then a person is born from above. The above Jews were not of Jesus’ sheep because they did not believe His words or His works. John 3:15 puts it this way: “15 That whosoever believeth in him (Jesus) should not perish, but have eternal life.” When spiritual birth happens one can believe the words of Jesus and hear His voice (He/she is tuned in) but those who do not believe are not one of His sheep and so His words are not believed or heard! One thing stated here that is certain and that is if one becomes a sheep, being born again then no one can pluck them out of Jesus’ hands! Because Jesus and the Father are one, no one can pluck them (Christians) out of the Father’s hand , that’s comforting! God bless.Love in Christ, Terry May 6, 2021
6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
9 Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.Good Morning. This is one of the most assuring verses that tell us where will go at the time of our death. Our spirit separates from our bodies at the time of death and it goes into the presence of the Lord Jesus! This is wonderful news! After we receive the free gift of salvation we are being asked here in verse 9 to do good works (labour) for the Lord, these works will be judged at Christ’s judgment seat. Our salvation is secure in the Lord but our works and deeds we do in our lives will be judged and rewards will be given accordingly! Are we doing good works acceptable to Jesus? The World’s Hatred John 15
18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.
Good Morning. “Birds of a feather flock together”, is a saying I heard most of my life and here in the gospel of John we are seeing Jesus proclaiming a similar situation. The world view and the Christian(as you know) view are miles and miles apart! Jesus is warning us not to be alarmed when we realize this but know that the world hated Me before it hated Christians. Some of that hatred may appear in a subtle way and some may be more overt as we find in places like the Sudan where they are executing Christian for their faith. In America, we have not seen the persecution that is possible to Christians and we are blessed to live in this country even though we see things changing in a direction we do not like! Jesus through His words informs people of sin and the word sin is not taken well in the world today. People want to hear how good they are not that they need a Savior to forgive their sins. We have to remember that the power behinf us through Jesus overcomes the trials that mayu be ahead of us. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us and died for us! John 1511 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
Good Morning. In this turbulent world that we live in it is sometimes very difficult to be joyful. We have to remember as Christians that our joy comes from the Lord and not from the world, the world cannot take something away that it did not give! Jesus is the reason we have joy because as we show obedience to Jesus’ commandment of love. We find that joy will follow us and we will love others. The greatest love is for one to lay down his life for another as Jesus laid down His life for us! You and I are Christians because Jesus chose us, we did not choose Him, He chose us and placed us in a position to bring glory to God by bringing fruit to the Kingdom. This fruit can be the fruit of the Spirit in our lives ie; love, joy, peace, etc. or it can be leading someone to Jesus! Notice in verse 17 loving one another is not a suggestion but a command! Seek His joy today!Love in Christ, Terry May 3 2021
23 Also there were many priests, because they were prevented by death from continuing. 24 But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. 25 Therefore He is also able to save [h]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.26 For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, [i]harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and has become higher than the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 28 For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.
Good Morning. I do not know how many high priests Israel had, but all of them because of death were temporary. Also, the high priests had to be forgiven for their own sins before atonement could be made for the people! We see here in our text that God sent a High Priest that had no sin was holy and blameless and was eternal in nature who ever lives to make intercession for you and I who are saved! His name is Jesus! Death could not hold Him and His priesthood is unchangeable so therefore He can save to the furthest out-reaches of the world and save those who God draws to Him! Jesus was a perfect High Priest that did not need to offer sacrifices for sins because He offered Himself once for all for all time. You and I can always go to this Hight Priest and have our sins atoned for, do you know this High Priest? God bless.Love in Christ, Terry May 2, 2021 See blog: walkingwithjesusbyhisword.wordpress.com
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’Good Morning. There will be a lot of people who will be surprised in the judgement because they believed in the “many paths to God”! Our bible tells us there is One way to God and Jesus is that way! These people do works of grandeur in God’s name (the enemy can do miraculous works) but they never made that personal choice of receiving Jesus Christ(knowing Him) or obeying the will of God in their lives. It sounds like they are pleading with the Lord for their souls and trying to convince Him that they should enter the Kingdom of God but they did not come through the DOOR! Jesus is the door to the sheep, all that try to come into the sheepfold another way are robbers and thieves! (John 10:7-9) These same people who try to get into the Kingdom practise lawlessness and are fakes that do not care for Jesus or people. In the end there is no escaping the judgement of God and they all will depart from the presence of Almighty God! Share His gospel today. Love in Christ, Terry May 1, 2021
The Heavenly Sanctuary HEBREWS 9
11 But Christ came as High Priest of the good things [c]to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. 12 Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, [d]sanctifies for the [e]purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without [f]spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.
Good Morning. Here in our text today we see the reality of our need for Jesus to be our High Priest. A priest is the one who carries our needs and problems and sins to God! Notice too that Jesus’ tabernacle is not made with hands and is not from this creation, His tabernacle is from above. The blood of bulls and goats was a sign of what was to take place in the future when Jesus came to earth and shed His blood. For the blood of bulls and goats could never take away sins: Hebrews 10;4 ” 4 For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.” Jesus’ blood not only washes away sin but gives us eternal life and the ability to serve the Living God!! Now because sin has separated mankind from God it takes the death and shed blood of Jesus, the Son of God to repair that separation and redeem us from the penalty of sin which is eternal separation from God (the second death)! Thank you Jesus! God bless.Love in Christ, Terry April 30, 2021
